Our Founder, DR. C.T. VIVIAN receives The Presidential Medal of Freedom. 11/20/2013

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the U.S. President and is the highest civilian award in the United States. It recognizes those individuals who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors". 

The medal was established in 1963, making this the 50th Anniversary year.

There are 16 recipients this year. The list includes:

Bill Clinton, 42nd President of The United States.

Oprah Winfrey, Media mogul, talk show host, and philanthropist.

Richard Lugar, Internationally respected statesman who represented Indiana in the U.S. Senate for over 30 years.

Sally Ride (Posthumous), First American female astronaut to travel to space.
