BASIC Diversity Celebrates 40 YEARS in Business! 02/ 7/2014

This year we celebrate our 40th year in business, making us the oldest diversity and inclusion consulting firm in existence. In 1974 dad left his job as the Dean of Divinity at Shaw University to start the company. The major pressing issue at that time was Black/White race relations, thus our original name -- Black Action Strategies and Information Center (B.A.S.I.C.). Back then nobody was doing "diversity training" and we had only one product, The Race Awareness Workshop, which is still our most requested product and the highest rated race relations seminar in the country. Had it not been for our contract with McDonald's and the support of three chambers of commerce in Iowa (Waterloo, Des Moines, Dubuque) we would not have made it.

As times changed, we evolved. In 1999, the company underwent rebranding to include a name change to BASIC Diversity. Our services now span the full spectrum of diversity & inclusion training and consulting, and we are the recognized innovators of Inclusive Leadership.
